The English Association of Male Voice Choirs Annual Concert hosted by BIMVC on 15th July in the Great Hall at the University of Birmingham was a great success. Nearly 200 choristers from 6 midland choirs, Worcester; Newport; Hadley Orpheus; Cradley and Warley joined together with the BIMVC, to entertain a packed audience with a rousing selection of old and new numbers. We were very fortunate to have SPAL Sovereign Brass as our guests who were ably led by their excellent conductor Trevor Jones.
Our other soloists were Jack Brookes and Steve O’Malley. The soloist and choristers were under the baton of our most capable MD Steve Roche
The comparing was in the talented hands of Tafadzwa Mushipe (Taffy) from Made in Birmingham TV.
Our own musicians, Chris Walk, Jack Brookes and Clare Ray excelled themselves with Chris and Steve playing the fantastic organ in the Great Hall.
During the evening a presentation was made to Steve to mark his 25years as the Musical Director of the BIMVC.
A charity donation was made to St. Mary’s Hospice in Birmingham by the Right Worshipful, The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Anne Underwood.
A retiring bucket collection was made and the audience generously donated over £1250 to this worthwhile charity. Grateful thanks to all who contributed to make the evening a success.
